Carbon Cycle

The carbon cycle is the process in which the carbon atoms from the atmosphere continuously move to the Earth and then from the Earth moves back to the atmosphere. Since the carbon atom remains within the system (Earth and atmosphere), therefore the amount of carbon atom does not change.

There are two main forms of carbon on Earth:

  • Elemental: Pure carbon, like diamonds and graphite.
  • Combined: Found in various minerals (carbonates) and atmospheric gas (carbon dioxide).

The carbon cycle explains how this element moves between these forms and different parts of Earth. In this article, we will explore more about the carbon cycle and the steps involved in the carbon cycle with the help of a carbon cycle diagram.
